BASIC FACIAL SKIN CARE REGIMEN
- Cleansing (double cleansing in evening to remove makeup if necessary)
- Toning (necessary in restoring skin to it's natural pH balance following cleansing)
- Morning only - Vitamin C serum (L-ascorbic acid; the only form of vitamin-C the body can use) and a most valuable topical that should be used by ages eight (8) and above every morning to provide antioxidant benefits against free radical damage to skin from sun exposure, smoking, and environmental pollutants
- Special treatment serum, gel or cream to treat hyper pigmentation, couperose and anti-aging skin damage (usually recommended for mornings and evenings)
- Moisturizer (if needed) - usually only in the evening
- Sun protection - SPF 30 with zinc oxide for UVA/UVB protection - every morning as the UVA ray is always doing damage in all seasons and during all weather conditions
In just minutes a day you can accomplish a wonderful lasting impression.

- Use very warm to hot water
- Use a gentle cleanser such as Foaming Cleanser from SkinCeuticals
- Pre-saturate a towel with warm water and apply as a warm compress over the neck and jaw line prior to removing the cleanser
- Apply a shave cream from a tube - not a can - in a thick layer over the beard area
- Take a fresh blade and begin at the upper side of the face and carry the blade down with straight, gentle pressure and even strokes, using your fingers to gently pull the jawbone skin up so as not to pass over the jawbone
- Dip the blade in the warm/hot water between each stroke
- Shave the neck last. Move slowly downward on the neck making one swipe only over each area, and cleaning the blade in water each time
- DO NOT SHAVE AN AREA TWICE
- Work around the Adam's apple by placing the fingers on the surrounding skin and gently pulling over to the right, then shaving, and then over to the left and shave
- Apply a cool towel over face and neck when shaving completed
- Apply light application of SkinCeutical Hydrating B5 Gel or Phyto Corrective Gel to soothe the skin
- AVOID after-shave lotions with S.D. alcohol, ethyl alcohol or products containing menthol, mint, camphor or fragrance. They are irritating and often culprits in razor burn
NOTE: If ingrown hairs are a problem it is recommended to use a beta-hydroxy acid cream.
Q: What is the difference between a sun screen and a sun block?
A: Sun screens chemically absorb UV rays. This chemical reaction in the skin may cause skin irritations, sensitivities and/or allergic reactions.
Sun blocks physically deflect UV rays. Natural ingredients such as micronized titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, offer substantial UVA and UVB protection.
Tips:
If you have traumatized or tormented your skin with wind or excessive sun, when no skin care product is available, a sliced tomato can be used to restore the acid mantle to the skin.
-------------
If you have a sun burn or have burned yourself in the kitchen, after cooling the skin down with cold water, the use of SkinCeutical Primacy C & E, and Hydrating B5 Gel will begin to heal and soothe the burn almost immediately. In some instances there will be little evidence of the burn the following day.
--------------
Some oral antibiotics may cause an allergic reaction when skin is exposed to the sun, even up to months after completing a course of antibiotic treatment. The use of a sun block with zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide can be very helpful in protecting the skin under this circumstance.
